Testimonials
My experience with Ankur has been far more than simply an opportunity to teach—it has been an experience that has stayed with me and shaped the way I think about education, leadership, and working with young people.
I first became involved with Ankur during my time in Bangalore, where I had the opportunity to work closely with students across different age groups. My activities ranged from teaching English, reading and communication skills to conducting sports and football sessions, fitness activities, keyboard classes, and supporting preparations for the school’s Annual Day. I also had the chance to spend time with students outside the traditional classroom environment, whether through group discussions, mentoring, or activities such as a visit to the zoo.
What impressed me most was the curiosity and openness of the students. Our conversations often went far beyond the lesson itself. We spoke about life in Germany, different cultures, education, ambitions, confidence, responsibility, and the opportunities available to them in the future. These interactions made the experience particularly meaningful to me because I was not only teaching the students, but constantly learning from them as well.
I was therefore very happy to return to Ankur more recently to conduct a leadership course. Over the course of the program, I worked with the students on topics such as ambition, communication, debating, confidence, teamwork, persuasion, problem-solving and taking initiative. Rather than treating leadership as simply holding a position or title, I wanted the students to understand it as the ability to create opportunities, communicate ideas, take responsibility and positively influence the people around them. Seeing students become increasingly willing to speak up, challenge ideas and express their own ambitions was extremely rewarding.
What makes Ankur special to me is the environment it creates for its students. There is a genuine emphasis on developing not only academic ability, but also confidence, character, curiosity and practical life skills. The dedication of the teachers and staff, together with the energy and potential of the students, makes it a place I have always enjoyed returning to.
I am incredibly grateful for the relationships, conversations and experiences I have had at Ankur. It has given me the opportunity to contribute something of my own while simultaneously teaching me a great deal about responsibility, humility and leadership. I hope to remain connected with the Academy and its students for many years to come.
"Great teachers focus not on compliance, but on connections and relationships".
It’s been 5 years that I have been working in Ankur and it has proved to be a good experience for me. Ankur is a place for young ones where they get all the comfort, freedom, love and affection. It also provides a free environment where their personality can be developed, which is conducive for their holistic growth. It also caters to the creative minds to apply their skills and knowledge they possess and let their talent prosper in a positive environment. Being a residential teacher, it is completely different and a pleasure to be a part of it by all means. Working with Ankur children has given me a great experience and has helped me grow personally. I thank the Ankur community for giving me an opportunity to explore and be a part of their journey.I look forward to keep contributing with all my potential."
"I have been extremely privileged to have been part of Advaith foundation and witnessed first hand the growth of the organisation by leaps and bounds. Myself and my sons have gained much from being a part of this family for the past 14 years. My sons gained a life lesson in acceptance, inclusion, equity and innumerable other values that the organisation stands for and I gained an extended family of friends and students whose successes I have the pleasure of witnessing every year as each batch graduates from school."
"What I also like about Ankur is that I found children with high potential, which speaks about how they have been brought up here!"
"I had the opportunity to spend 6 amazing weeks at your lovely project and I enjoyed every single second of it. I already have experience in working with children but I never had the chance to work with them so close. I noticed quickly that every single one of them is very special in his own way. They are all so smart, kind and curious that it was always a pleasure to talk and play with them. Teaching the children, playing with them and taking care of them gave me a really good feeling. When I went to bed in the evening, I felt so satisfied and happy because of the work I have done. The children in Akkur have a special sort of happiness which we are incapable of having, and being around them allows one to be exposed to this unadulterated, pure joy and love for life."
"During my time here, I had a wonderful opportunity to work with Children of Ankur. The children here are incredibly bright, sunny and sweet.I really appreciate the opportunity given to children to play and to learn. I think Ankur does a good job of striving to provide the children with diverse opportunities to nurture their creative and emotional spirit."
"To me Ankur is like a family where the children and teacher all live together and a strong bond is formed between children and the teachers."
"Everyone is respectful at Ankur and there is positive energy in the community which I have seldom felt anywhere else."
